Coach Parks - (sotd #7)

“Recently a coach of mine passed away, a wrestling coach to be specific. Coach Parks. I don’t really have any specific story, more a collage of stories and acts that he bestowed upon me, and that I will carry with me for my life forever.

He was my wrestling coach, but he taught me so much more than how to wrestle. He told me his stories, and he told me what they meant to him, and what they should mean to me. He pushed me harder than anyone else did, and he made me the person I am today. I wasn’t going to go to college, I wasn’t going to study engineering, I wasn’t going to work to support my family. He changed all of that. He changed my life. Through days upon days of being there for me, of imparting his wisdom, of spending time with me and others like me. I will never forget that. Thank you coach Parks.”
